How Can severe Abdominal Bloating Be Treated?

Hi last week I fell and fractured my 8th rib. I have been very bloated not only where I was injured but my abdomen is bloated and side of impact is hard to touch. Also gassy. Had a CT scan that showed no further injury. Is this normal and when will it go away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is the rib pain related internal pulling of abdomen muscles which give you sensation of bloating all the time.

Along with analgesic , proton pump inhibitors as Omeprazole or else, I recommend deep breathing exercises and bulk forming laxatives for best results.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
